Michelle Foote

Michelle Foote grew up in St Ives and always enjoyed making art, but after moving away to Devon as a teenager, she followed a different career path. It was only after having children and then returning to live in St Ives that Michelle rediscovered the joy of creating art and has since spent the last few years delighting in exploring different creative mediums to find her own artistic ‘voice’.

Fascinated with repeat patterns and inspired by Scandiniavian folk art, Art Nouveau and nature, Michelle works from her garden studio to make wheel thrown and hand built pottery from local Cornish clay. She uses a variety of methods including sraffito (scratching the clay through coloured slip), inlaying, painting and stamping (using hand carved clay stamps or found items such as acorns or poppy heads).
